I spent this last Tuesday morning down at The Lip Lab in Fremantle designing my own lipstick. It’s the second time I have created my own (my first poor lipstick was carelessly left in the car by Yours Truly and melted to its very messy death). It is a process that is thoroughly enjoyable and one that I recommend you try, especially if you are a fellow beauty lover.
When I attended their launch event last year I went in with no preconceived notion of what shade I was going to create. This time I was better prepared and I designed a shade that is my typical “go to” lip colour – the sort of hue I seem to gravitate towards every single time I go makeup shopping. Here’s how I created my perfect rosy-pink shade…
Since I already knew what sort of lip shade I wanted to create, when I sat down with Tanya from The Lip Lab in Fremantle it was as simple as showing her a colour match of what I envisioned. She began mixing the different pigments needed while I chose which fragrance to add (I went with the ever classic Vanilla) and a mix of two soft shimmers – a bit of Yellow gold and Rose Gold to give a gentle sheen. I then decided on a creme finish (you can opt for matte, gloss, etc) and all that was left to do was settle on a custom name while the lipstick formula was busy being mixed, poured and set.
I named the shade “Turkish Rose”.
We ended up making two copies of the lipstick – one for me and one as a giveaway. To enter the giveaway and be in the running to own your own “Turkish Rose” lipstick and a Swarovski bracelet (pictured below) simply check out this photo on my Instagram and follow the steps.
