Buccal facial with Sandra Levy-Valensi

It had been perhaps a good year since I last had a facial and seeing as I class myself as a hobbyist beauty blogger that comes as a slight shame. I do mean to get them done more regularly, especially as I get older, but it’s another one of those things that I say I’m going to do and never get around to doing. For this reason when I was invited to have a buccal facial with Sandra Levy-Valensi I jumped at the chance.

Sandra is a French Facialist that specialises in a new treatment that although well known in France, is not something I had ever come across before. A Buccal facial (buccal – relating to the cheek) involved massaging the inside of your cheeks and lips. It sounds strange at first but when you are laying down on the therapy bed it becomes a simple addition to your regular facial treatment.

The Buccal Facial:

The facial itself went for about 2.5 hours. For the first thirty minutes or so we introduced ourselves – Sandra told me more about herself, her career, more about the buccal facial treatment developed in Paris by skincare guru Joëlle Ciocco and her overall philosophy on skincare. It was a very relaxed chat followed by an in-depth skin consultation where we discussed my main concerns, my skin history (former acne, recent cosmetic procedures, my current skincare routine, etc) and my current lifestyle/emotional status and how they affected my skin’s wellbeing and appearance. I told Sandra my main concerns were my extremely dry skin, fine lines and large pores.

From there, I changed into a robe, laid down on the therapy bed and closed my eyes as Sandra began the two hour facial. It started with a quick meditation that really focused my mind and body into relaxing and letting the tension go from my body. Over the next two hours my face was cleansed, exfoliated, massaged and lightly pommeled (in a great “I needed that” sort of way). I even had a session of micro-dermabrasion and heat infusion to let the skincare really skin down into my skin layers. The buccal part of the facial was only about ten minutes or so. Sandra put on gloves for this part (for obvious hygiene reasons) and it didn’t feel strange at all (I was expecting it to).

It was hands down THE BEST FACIAL I have ever had. Nothing else comes close to it. My skin was so plump, my fine lines were much less noticeable, my blackheads were gone and my face glowed. Best off all, that dull tired look my skin had, disappeared. I’d definitely recommend having a facial with Sandra. I know I will myself book in again in the future (she suggests facials every 4-6 weeks) because of how impressed I was with my results. It’s been nearly a week and my skin is still blackhead free and plumper.

defiantly an interesting sounding facial with the massage inside the cheeks, but sounds like its very beneficial!
